About the Project
The poster concept presented to the client was a take on old carnival posters. The topic for the debate was seen by the designer as one that if presented the wrong way could receive negative feedback for the client.
A concept developed on the idea of carnival posters with woodcut ornamental type is away of presenting age in a subtle way. The wood type typefaces develop a vernacular of ‘olden times’ lending itself well to the overall theme concept of old versus young.
Using type in a decorative manner was a challenge for myself as a designer, but one that was successful. The design was chosen by the client as the design to be sent out to all members via e-mail or post. Posters were also printed to be posted in local participating businesses.
